Environment and keys
pinset env use
Choose a profile for later commands, changing only this machine's project choice by default.
View source on GitHub ↗When to use
Use to switch environments. Use exec --profile for one command or env remove to delete a profile.
Examples
pinset env use dev
pinset exec -- node app.js
pinset env use --reset
Result: chooses dev locally and runs the application. Reset clears the local choice; a shared default may still apply.
Behavior
Writes .pinset/local/profile.json by default. --project changes the shared default and transaction state. No network, decryption or application execution. Precedence: explicit argument, PINSET_PROFILE, local choice, shared default. --no-env or PINSET_NO_ENV disables injection first.
Parameters, exit codes and common errors
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
<profile> | Existing profile name. |
--reset | Clear the scoped choice; do not supply a name. |
--project | Change the shared default. |
Success exits 0; failure exits 1. For PINSET_PROFILE_MISSING, check env list. Name plus --reset exits 2.
