Pinset maintenance
pinset self shell
Generate a PATH snippet so your shell can run Pinset-managed tool commands directly.
View source on GitHub ↗When to use
Use when bare commands such as node still bypass Pinset. Execute the snippet or add it to startup configuration yourself.
Examples
pinset self shell bash
eval "$(pinset self shell bash)"
Illustrative first output:
export PATH='/example/pinset/v3/bin':"$PATH"
For the current PowerShell session: pinset self shell powershell | Invoke-Expression.
Behavior
Generates text only, without profile writes, network or installation. Prepends the managed command directory to PATH. CLI paths still require installer setup. Save the snippet in shell startup configuration for persistent use.
Parameters, exit codes and common errors
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
<bash|zsh|fish|powershell> | Required target shell. |
Success exits 0; basic environment errors exit 1; invalid shell exits 2. Inspect PATH order and command caches if routes remain wrong.
