Tool management
pinset remove
Remove a project tool choice while keeping downloaded tools and Python environments.
View source on GitHub ↗When to use
Use when a tool is no longer needed. Reclaim disk space with clean installs; other projects' references still protect installations.
Examples
pinset remove bun --plan
pinset remove bun
Result: previews, then removes Bun from configuration and lock while retaining its installation.
Behavior
Transactionally updates configuration and lock and registers project state. No network access or SDK/venv deletion. Global defaults may become available where inheritance is allowed; strict projects cannot use the removed tool.
Parameters, exit codes and common errors
| Parameter | Meaning |
|---|---|
<tool>... | Names to deselect. |
--global | Remove global defaults. |
--plan | Preview only. |
Success exits 0; state and other operational errors exit 1. Repeated tools use PINSET_SELECTION_DUPLICATE. Retain runtimes needed by other selected tools.
